Sound Voltex, also known as SDVX, is a rhythm game (music game) published by BEMANI, Konami's music game division. They created games like IIDX, Beatmania, DanceDanceRevolution, and more.
"The gameplay follows the formula of several other arcade and mobile rhythm games such as Beatmania IIDX and Arcaea, requiring the player to press buttons corresponding to "notes" approaching the bottom of the screen from the end of a simulated corridor. The game is likened to Beatmania in that the control scheme is intended to simulate performing as a DJ; rather than using a disc, Sound Voltex includes two control knobs to interact with "laser" notes." - Sound Voltex Wiki

In late 2020, we purchased the Pocket Voltex, seen below. It was a small controller with keycap sized buttons. This was my first introduction to the game. I used a vertical monitor and would play at home. I quickly fell in love with both the gameplay and the music genre for this game. Several months later we upgrade to the SVRE 9 (pictured below). This controller is the standard size of the SDVX Nemsys cabinets control panel. "Arcade Standard" is something it would be called.
With a keyboard stand, a 22in vertical monitor, and a dream, I would come to love Sound Voltex and finally find a rhythm game that I truly enjoyed. Less than a year after purchasing the Pocket Voltex we purchased our own Sound Voltex Cabinet.

My summer was spent enjoying boba and playing sdvx. To say that I could play for hours is no joke. This was prior to my understanding of my neurodivergence, but Sound Voltex was my hyperfixation for awhile. The music, the lights, the satisfying feeling of pressing the buttons on time; we joke but it really is a great stim game. Multiple stimuli AND it's just a fun game.

Sound Voltex Station Before the Cabinet
Here's a little video from my twitter from when we were just using the SVRE-9. (twit video) I was having so much fun with just this set up. Later we upgraded to the keyboard stand and created a mini station to play at.
